NBTHK Hozon, late Edo era Dotanuki 同田貫 by Enju Kunimune 万宝子延寿國宗
Unique Kinno style sword with Kanmuri Otoshi and Omine 冠落し,大峰
<Swordsmith and sword feature>
Swordsmith Manposhi Enju Kunimune 万宝子延寿國宗 was born and lived in HIgo 肥後(current Kumamoto prefecture 熊本) in the end of Edo period.
He belonged to Dotanuki Enju clan as well as smith Dotanuki Enju Munehiro 同田貫延寿宗廣.
This sword has a typical Kinkoto style ( also referred to as a "royalist's sword" ) which has relatively long length, shallow curvature and Omine 大鋒, with a unique Kanmuri Otoshi 冠落 shape(the thickness on the back becomes thinner from the half of the blade towards the tip -it is an ideal sword for display.
The NBTHK Hozon certificate was issued in Heisei 8 nen 平成8年 - 1996.
It has an ordinary blade weight and a width, Kamnuri Otoshi-zukuri 冠落造り, Iori-mune 庵棟. The curve is shallow and the blade top is Omine 大峰.
<Hada - Forging>
The jihada (body of the sword) is a tightly forged Mokume (burl wood grain) and coarse Jinie(darkish crystal)granule attaches on the surface.
<Hamon - Temper patterns>
The Hamon is Gunome with bright and clear Nioiguchi 匂口 and abundant Yo activities appear on the Ha 刃.
Boshi- temper line of the tip is Midarekomi(wavy) with and turns back to a gentle curl called Komaru.
<Nakago - Tang>
The Tang is Ubu(original) and has Kesho 化粧鑢(decorative) file marks. Nakago end is Kurijiri shape 栗尻.
Solid copper single piece Habaki with slanting file marks.
<Koshirae - Mountings>

Polish: Furutogi and there are a few Hike.
