Late Muromachi era Mumei sword - Suebizen末備前 Tachi
Well balanced long blade, ideal for Tameshigiri and Iai
<Swordsmith and sword feature>
It is a quite rare long Tachi which was made in late Muromachi era, probably by Sukesada or Kiyomitsu of Suezen, judging from the Ji and other characteristics.
When we checked this sword, Machiokuri actually helps for a good balance with 1.8cm curves.
It will be an ideal Tameshigiri and Iai sword with a new Koshirae.
It has an ordinary blade weight and a width, Shinogi-zukuri, Iori-mune. The curve is Koshizori style and the blade top is Omine.
There are Katachiri Bohi(a groove which extends to shinogi,leaves flat space only on Mune side) and Soehi on Sashi Omote side, on Sashiura side there are three narrow & shallow Bohi on the blade.
<Hada - Forging>
The jihada (body of the sword) is a tightly forged Mokume (burl wood grain) mixed with Masame on the cutting edge.
<Hamon - Temper patterns>
The Hamon is Gunome Midare based on Suguba, there are many Hataraki like Nie-kuzure and Yo along the temper line.
Boshi (shape of the temper line at the top) follows the temper line and turns back to Komaru.
<Nakago - Tang>
The Tang was altered slightly with Machiokuri - moving the machi upward, the length of the blade is shortened by moving both the Munemachi and the Hamachi upward on the blade without actuallly shortening the Nakago. The sword overall length does not change.
It has Kiri file marks and Nakago end is Kurijiri shape.
Single piece, silver gilded copper base Habaki with Koshi Yujo pattern.
<Koshirae - Mountings>
Polish: Furutogi, there are some trace of very thin rusts .
Defects such as openings, chips and cracks: None.
