<Swordsmith and sword feature>
Swordsmith Minamoto no Kunitsugu 源國次, real name Tanaka Shunji 田中俊二 learned under his father smith Minamoto no Norikuni 源範国.
He makes own Tamahagane for his swords which are renowned for their cutting ability (Owazamono) by Japanese Tameshigiri practitioners .

This stout and long sword has a wonderful balance and gives a light feel to users.
Tightly fitted in Koshirae mountings which is almost new, it is ready for use.

<Appearance>
Shinogi-zukuri, Iori-mune 鎬造り庵棟. The curve is Toriizori style 鳥居反り and the blade top is Nakamine.

<Hada - Forging>
The jihada (body of the sword) is a tightly forged Itame 板目肌 mixed with Masa 柾 and coarse Jinie(darkish crystal)granule attaches on the surface.

<Hamon - Temper patterns>
The Hamon is OGunome Midare 大互の目乱れ, rich in Nie and Nioi which is quite clear and splendidly bright.
In the Hamon abundant Suna-nagashi shows it's flowing sand-like pattern with Kinsuji(whitish gold line), Ashi and Yo activities.
Boshi- temper line of the tip is Midarekomi(wavy) and turns back to a gentle curl called Komaru.

<Nakago - Tang>
The Tang is Ubu(original) and has Sujigai file marks. Nakago end is Kurijiri shape.

<Habaki-Metal collar>
Solid copper single piece Habaki with Yujo pattern.

<Koshirae - Mountings>
please check the detail pictures.

Tsuba:Iron base, irregular Mokko shape antique Tsuba with hummer pattern.
Fuchi Kashira: Copper base Handachi 半太刀 set with Ishime texture finishing.
Menuki: Engraved horse.
Tsuka: Covered with ray skin with Oyatsubu and wrapped with light bown pure silk in Morohineri-maki style(almost new).
Saya: Kuroro - lacquered in black. A spare Shirasaya comes with this sword.

<Blade Condition>
Polish: The blade seems "cloudy" due to Furutogi.
Polish: There are tiny, thin rusts due to Furutogi.
Defects such as openings, chips and cracks: There is a tiny, minor Ware (20cm above Habaki on Hiraji on Sashiura side). It won't
      affect Tameshigiri practice.
