<Swordsmith and sword feature>
Swordsmith Yamagami Norihisa 山上則久, real name Yamagami Shigenori 山上重則 was born in 1945 in Niigata prefecture.
He entered Nihon Tanren Denshusho 日本刀鍛錬伝習所" founded by Kurihara Akihide 栗原昭秀 then also leaned under his master smith father " Yamagami Akihisa 山上昭久".
Norihisa has won Tokusho 特賞(Special prise -first prize), Doryoku Sho 努力賞( Award for Best Effort- third prize ), Nyusen 入選 (accepted into the competition) at annual shinsakuto competition 新作刀展 by NBTHK.
This sword shows Norihisa's unique and characteristic Hamon of Saka-Choji 逆丁子.
It is an ideal Iai sword as it has a wonderful balance which gives a light feel to practitioners.
It has an ordinary blade weight and a width, Shinogi-zukuri, Iori-mune. The curve is Toriizori style and the blade top is Nakamine.
There are Katachiri Bohi(thick groove which extends to shinogi,leaves flat space only on Mune side) on both side of the blade.
<Hada - Forging>
The jihada (body of the sword) is a Itame 板目 mixed with Masa 柾 and coarse Jinie(darkish crystal)granule attaches on the surface.
<Hamon - Temper patterns>
The Hamon is Saka-Choji 逆丁子刃 mixed with Togariba 尖り刃 with brilient nie white crystals attaches abundantly on the cutting edge.
Kinsuji 金筋(golden line) runs through along the temper line as well as abundant Ashi activities appear 足良く入る.
Boshi- temper line of the tip is Notarekomi 湾れ込み and turns back to a gentle curl called Komaru.
<Nakago - Tang>
The Tang is Ubu(original) and has Sujigai file marks. Nakago end is Kurijiri shape.
Gold gilded solid silver single piece Habaki with Tate Yasuri file marks.
<Koshirae - Mountings>

Tsuba: Round iron base tsuba with multiplicity of arrows.
Fuchi Kashira: Engraved gentian flower on Shakudo(copper and gold alloy) base.
Menuki: With engravings of peony
Tsuka: Covered with ray skin with Oyatsubu and wrapped with brown pure silk in Morotsumi-maki style.
Saya: Kuro-ishimenuri - a rough textured black lacquerer finish.(newly re-coated)
Polish: There are tiny, very thin rusts on Kissaki(tip) otherwise in good condition.
Defects such as openings, chips and cracks: None.
