<Swordsmith and sword feature>
As this sword takes a good balance and has a light weight with Bohi 棒樋, it will be a wonderful Iai partner if a new owner have it fully polished (we will be glad to arrange a Togi 研ぎ for this sword).
It is also a classy display piece - the Saya was beautifully handcrafted Golden brown Tsuishu with blue shells 金茶色堆朱貝散しand is in a good condition.
The matching Kanagu (Higo Nunome Zogan inlay Fuchigashira 鉄地肥後布目象嵌縁頭 & gold color Menuki) were fitted well with a new golden brown pure silk Tsuka Maki 正絹金茶柄巻き - we had it re-wrapped just before uploading this item to our websites.
It has an ordinary blade weight and a width, Shinogi-zukuri, Iori-mune 鎬造り庵棟. The curve is Toriizori style and the blade top is Nakamine 鳥居反り中鋒.
There are Katachiri Bohi 棒樋 (thick groove which extends to shinogi,leaves flat space only on Mune side) on both side of the blade.
<Hada - Forging>
The jihada (body of the sword) is a Itame 板目肌 with running tendancies and becomes Masa 柾. Coarse Jinie(darkish crystal)granule attaches on the surface.
<Hamon - Temper patterns>
The Hamon is of Nie-deki 沸出来(a blade with predominantly Nie Hamon), Chusuguha 中直刃(a medium-sized straight Hamon) type and Nioiguchi 匂口 which is quite clear and bright.
Boshi (temper of tip) goes into Suguba 直刃 and turns back to Komaru(small Boshi).
<Nakago - Tang>
The Tang is Ubu 生(original) and has Kiri file marks 切り鑢. Nakago end is Kurijiri shape 栗尻形.
Solid copper single piece Habaki in Shonai style.
<Koshirae - Mountings>
