<Swordsmith and sword feature>
Kamei Akihira 亀井昭平, born in 1927, who learned under Tanba Kanenaga 丹波兼長 and lived in Gifu prefecture. He was awarded two Doryoku prizes 努力賞(Award for Good Effort) and fifteen Nyusen prizes 入選 by NBTHK 日本美術刀剣保存協会.
Most of his swords were made for practical use and beloved by many Budo practitioners.
This piece is his work when he was 53 years old. It is an ideal light Iaito with a good balance and finely fitted with a nice set of Higo 肥後 style Kanagu- Tsuba, Fuchi Kashira, Menuki + Kojiri.

It has an ordinary blade weight and a width, Shinogi-zukuri, Iori-mune. The blade top is Nakamine.
There are Katachiri Bohi(thick groove which extends to shinogi,leaves flat space only on Mune side) on both side of the blade.

<Hada - Forging>
 The Jihada (body of the sword) is Itame-hada combined with Masa in company with thick ji-nie 地沸 granules and chikei 地景.

<Hamon - Temper patterns>
The Hamon is Notare Gunome mixed with Kogunome (small Gunome) with abundant nie white crystal which becomes Aranie here and there.
In the Hamon Suna-nagashi shows it's flowing sand-like pattern while activities of Ashi 足 and Yo 葉 appears on the surface.
Boshi- temper line of the tip is Hamon nari with Hakikake activities and turns back to a gentle curl called Komaru.

<Nakago - Tang>
The Tang is Ubu(original) and has Sujichigai筋違い file marks. Nakago end is Kurijiri shape 栗尻.

<Habaki-Metal collar>
Gold gilded two pieces(layers) copper Habaki which was made to fit tightly to Bohi grooves.

<Koshirae - Mountings>

Tsuba: Higo style iron base Tsuba with gold inlay of pawlownia motif.
Fuchi Kashira: Higo style iron base set with gold inlay of pawlownia motif.
Menuki: Engraved bird on Shakudo base.
Kojiri: Higo style iron base piece with gold inlay of pawlownia motif.
Tsuka: Covered with ray skin with Oyatsubu and wrapped with brown suede in Morohineri-maki style(newly wrapped)
Saya: Kin Nashiji 金梨地 Saya (orangish gross lacquered Saya with sprinkles of gold powder).

<Blade Condition>
Polish: Freshly polished, in very good condition.
Defects such as openings, chips and cracks: None.
