Buzen Ju Kono Sadamitsu 豊前住河野貞光, real name Kono Hiroshi 河野博 was born in 1950 who resided and worked in Buzen Fukuoka. He was the eldest son of smith Kunimitsu 国光. In 1975 he became an apprentice to Living National Treasure "Gassan Sadakazu月山貞一".
In 1980 he was given a Kanji character of "Sada 貞" for his smith name by his teacher Sadaichi 貞一.
After Sadamitsu set up his own workshop in Fukuoka prefecture in 1981, he had won numerous awards in Japanese sword forging competitions and his name became famous globally as Owazamono Master, his swords were called "Ima Kotetsu 今虎鉄" which are still admired by many Japanese sword lovers and collectors.
Giheiya was honored to order numbers of Giheiya original sword to master Sadamitsu, yet we haven't had so many opportunities to offer master's swords to our customers after he passed away a few years ago...nobody was willing to sell his great swords.
This piece was brought in our shop for a consignment sale and the previous owner applied then successfully obtained a NBTHK Hozon certificate last year.
