<Swordsmith & Sword feature >
Moriyama Kaneshige 森山兼茂, real name Moriyama Osamu 森山修 was born and lived in Minami Soma, Chiba prefecture.
He was appointed as a Jumei swordsmith by Japanese army before WWII. He and his son had won numerous awards in Meito Ten - Annual exhibit and competition for new swords.

This blade has an amazing Hamon as you can see in the detail pictures below ... a Yo appears in each Gunome pattern which chains from Yakidashi(blade bottom) to Kissaki(the tip).
After a good polish, it will show an incredibly unique and beautiful Hamon at the same time this is a well balanced, light feel sword which is ideal for Iai practice.

<Appearance>
It has an ordinary blade weight and a width, Shinogi-zukuri, Iori-mune. The curve is Koshizori style and the blade top is Nakaine.
There are Katachiri Bohi(thick groove which extends to shinogi,leaves flat space only on Mune side) on both side of the blade.

<Hada - Forging>
It has a tight Itame hada and coarse Jinie granule attaches on the surface.

<Hamon - Temper patterns>
The Hamon is extremely unique Gunome Midare in which a chain of round circles all along the temper line while Ashi activities shows up. We never seen anything like this Hamon in our career.

<Nakago - Tang>
The Tang is Ubu(original) and has Sujigai file marks. Nakago end is irregular Kurijiri shape.

<Habaki-Metal collar>
Solid copper single piece Habaki with Yujo pattern

<Koshirae - Mountings>
Please check the detail pictures.

Tsuba: New piece - Round iron base tsuba with engraved Vajras in open works.
Fuchi Kashira: New piece - Silver base Fuchi Kashira with Sanskrit characters.
Menuki: New piece - carved Sanskrit character on silver base.
Tsuka: Covered with ray skin and wrapped with black pure silk in Morohineri-maki style.
Saya: lacquered in black - Kuroro.

<Blade Condition>
Polish: Original - There are some thin rusts due to Furutogi(old polishing), we recommend a new polish to take off all the rusts and Kumori(cloudy surface).
Defects such as openings, chips and cracks: None.
