<Swordsmith & Sword feature >
Seshu Ju Norihide, real name Koshio Gonda 権田甲子男, lives and works in Takaraduka city in Hyogo prefecture.
He has won few awards in Modern sword exhibition held by NBTHK in the past.
Giheiya had repaired the original Tsuka and fitted a set of solid silver parts - Menuki & fuchi Kashira + a new Tsuba to match the Kanagu set and the Saya with a solid silver cover over Koikuchi.
Despite the tough feature of this blade, it gives a light feel to users and takes a very fine balance. It is a very recommendable Shinken for Iai practitioners.
It has an ordinary blade weight and a slightly thick width, Shinogi-zukuri, Iori-mune. The curve is Toriizori style and the blade top is Nakamine.
There are Katachiri Bohi(thick groove which extends to shinogi,leaves flat space only on Mune side) on both side of the blade.
<Hada - Forging>
"Mokume"(Burl wood grain temper line) is nicely mixed in Itame temper line and coarse Jinie granule attaches on the surface.
<Hamon - Temper patterns>
The Hada is Gunome-Choji and Ashi are stacked abundantly in the yakiba while Ginsuji shows up on the cutting edge.
Boshi is midarekomi, Saki-togari hamon then turns back to Komaru - Iregular temper pattern contiues to kissaki(the point) and turns back to a gentle curl called Komaru.
<Nakago - Tang>
The Tang is Ubu(original) and has Kesho(decorative) file marks. Nakago end is Kurijiri shape.
Solid silver single piece habaki with Soyujo file pattern.
<Koshirae - Mountings>
